I believe a series based around the UPP, considering the success of "Andor", I wish we could get a series set in the Union of Progressive Peoples (in the Alien Universe), taking inspiration from the nonfiction books "The Jakarta Method" by Vincent Bevins, "Killing Hope" by William Blum and “Blackshirts and Reds” by Michael Parenti, as well as Marxist Materialist Analytics for the narrative progression and information gleaned from known aspects of Operation Gladio, dealing with the politics of the Union, as it is infiltrated and sabotaged by the United Americas and the Weyland-Yutani corporation; the UPP is blamed for the destruction of Hadley’s Hope from from Aliens; the series can take place after those and Alien 3’s events, prior to the Union encountering any Xenomorph. (The Hadley’s Hope incident is dismissed by the Union as another example of the dangers the peoples of the UA face in the Economic Opportunity Zones under corporate control, often with lax regulation and nearly zero oversight over any company abuse over the workers in those zones; other disasters have happened in such places, similar meltdowns or disease outbreaks that killed colonists). It is important to take the view of historian Michael Parenti in framing and use of storytelling here, as if it is history, as he puts it "It is not out job to forgive, but it is our job to understand."
Dialectical Logic in the Soviet Union
In the early season the Chairman of the Union is informed of a Super Planet, an aria with rich resources, while it isn’t particularly suitable for terraforming (a majority of UPP terraforming, as described in the Alien Universe, are subterranean, making it impossible to do flybys over UPP Colonies (to check on the goings on of the colony from space); this concealment is often used by the UA/WY to promote paranoia against the Union, many UPP colonists are paler in skin complexion and are often shown as "sickly" for propaganda purposes; these underground colonies will make the concealment of a Xenomorph infestation much easier because it’s completely underground, this will be important later in the story. UPP colonies would be a different type of location for a series to visually/culturally explore, as so much would be carved out of rock) into a major population center, it is very rich in the mining resources that the Union lacks for production purposes and would greatly help in making providing for their people technologically; the Union heavily relies on sustainable metrics of operation, like geothermal energy, and never lets anything go to waste; their recycling technology is as top tier as it can get, including in its disposal of biological waste as fertilizer. Such a Super Planet, while not as ideal as a Super Earth like one capable of sustaining life, would be a boon to the Union; though the UA is attempting to contest the Union for the planet and its resources by attempting to stake a claim to its discovery. The Union has a jury duty like system for random people throughout each micro-district for people to meet at the local Workers Counsel to speak on local concerns and issues to the UPP Civil Society Supercomputer “C.O.N.G.L.O” (Community Oriented National & General Lay-Out) who aggregates all local concerns into policy on the local level, and creates a conglomeration of policy based on Union wide concerns and social observations. C.O.N.G.L.O’s A.I. personality is comparatively primitive to many free Synthetics, but is actually fairly well beloved by most people. C.O.N.G.L.O is the primary system reported into by all major institutions within the Union; allowing for the aggregation of general social data within a centralized place in tandem with Central Economic Planning and census data. The Underground Railroad of smuggled Synthetics create problems in the data and often cause issues for planning. C.O.N.G.L.O aggregates police criminal reports, domestic violence, and social unrest, social interests, youth concerns and future ambitions, fires reported to the fire department and terror attacks, medical information and trends in social and mental health, political/economic and social concerns, work/construction related injuries, political corruption, supplies, resources, supply chains/routs, and shortages, and more. C.O.N.G.L.O records all meetings of the Supreme Council and the House Of Nationalities for the purposes of public record. (one could also take inspiration from the EASU [Economic Automatic Management System] and the OGAS [All State Automated System For Computation And Information Processing] blueprints for Soviet Cybernetics for an automated planned economy.
The first part of the series could focus on a UPP military operation to acquire some Seegsen Working Joes, those displayed in the game Alien Isolation, which they covertly purchase (for police/military use), though some of them have been hardwired with spyware. They take them back, rework them a bit, and deploy them for security assistance during a protest for synthetic rights happening in the Union, wherein some of the Working Joes’ fire on the crowd, due to the spyware, wherein other, with a different set of spyware record the massacre, this footage is later used as propaganda in the United Americas against the Union.
The UPP government uses its intelligence agents to smuggle easily assembled and disassembled weaponry to outer colony liberation movements on the outskirts of UA/Corporate space (Economic Opportunity Zones); in the hopes of establishing friendly relations with the society should they bring about a revolution and establish their own independence. This action is often used in the propaganda of the UA as a means of justifying any actions taken against the UPP, as well as any repressive actions taken against their own population to “prevent sedition by communists” (an organization similar to H.U.A.C [House Un-American Activities Committee] is a prominent part of the government of the UA; run out of the Congress of Corporations).
UA has a Congress of Corporations, which has the C.E.Os of each major company as an unelected (other than majority vote of the largest shareholders in the company, who are the only people who ‘vote’ on the C.E.Os) economic representative and holding a government representative status (purportedly for “economic security” purposes), they can vote on the economic decisions of the UA (similar to a concept from Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany’s “Reich Economic Chamber”), as the justification is that if the interests of the corporations are met, then vicariously, the needs of the people will be met in turn; that’s the justification anyway. The UA fixates on “Human Rights Violations” in the UPP (often using footage of protests for Synthetic rights in the Union as misleading examples of social unrest against the Union as an institution itself, rather than a social grievance seeking reform), it’s own colossal abuses are ignored entirely, often it shrugs off any observation of worse abuses committed by their corporate conglomerates when brought up; the clear damage that WY has done to many of it’s own workers or their private owned interstellar colonies on the outskirts of UA space, which are often unregulated corporate “Economic Opportunity Zones” that are usually rife with unexplained deaths and injuries; often all workers in these places must sign contracts of corporate secrecy and will be liable to corporate arbitration lawsuits if they break them, whistle blowers are often ‘disappeared’, and Labor Union formation is violently suppressed by corporate mercenaries and private police/detective agencies; wildcat strikes are broken violently.
The United Americas has a system in which their workers are paid in a Crypto-Currency/Stock like currency (the “Shares” referenced in the first Alien film) generated/regulated by the companies, like Weyland-Yutani, use as an incentive of “Stakeholder Employment”, it’s value of course fluctuates based upon the well-being of the company they’re employed in; they can be forfeited if anything under the contract of employment is breached, and most contracts are written so vaguely to favor the company that if the company wanted to arbitrarily claim a reason to withhold payment, the company can easily get away with it and justify not doing so through the contract language. Also, tying the corporate currency to the ‘well-being’ of the companies, it means that they are always pushing to expand their influence/profits, which ties the safety of the UA’s citizens to support UA imperialism into UPP territory to take resources, by force, from them; thereby increasing conflict for the purposes of achieving corporate profit and thereby shoring up the corporate wages that they pay to their workers, that they may be able to afford to live in the UA. The UA does have an actual government issued currency, but it has a flat rate of value and doesn't fluctuate, which while good, is often offset by the fact that the companies charge a ‘fee’ to workers who want to ‘cash out’ of their corporate currency into government currency, making the cost of getting paid in regulated government money difficult on the workers; this system is similar to the ‘Company Town Script’ of the 19th century, the same with putting the workers of the companies into debt by offering them ‘free room and board’ that they are charged for directly out of their pay before they even get paid, which also lowers their actual take home wages; things like “Company Stores” that only accept the company money also exist, and the company even charges a fee to exchange company money money into government regulated stable currency; corporate executives, however, are paid in government money and compensated with company stock which they can cash out into government money anytime with no fee.
Weyland-Yutani funds Non-Governmental Think Tank (like a variety of other companies in the UA) “The Liberation Conglomerate” which contributes to political campaigns to pass pro-corporate legislation and perpetuate the ‘revolving door’ of private industry and politicians in the UA. The Liberation Conglomerate promotes pro-corporate propaganda throughout the UA, as well as anti-UPP propaganda; highlighting ‘defectors from the UPP’ as ‘people fleeing tyranny’ as well as arguing/asserting that the UPP colonizing planets that, as the claim through propaganda throughout the UA, if the UPP wasn’t so ‘greedy’ their would be more planets in the territory of the UA to colonize and thereby more jobs for the people and that the slave economy of Synthetic labor/automation isn’t what’s creating the problem, the problem is that the growth of the corporate economy is being inhibited by the UPP and that’s what putting people out of work. The Conglomerate also runs propaganda/disinformation in a “Radio Free Europe/Radio Free Asia” in the hopes of provoking violence from the Union public to overthrow the government. The UA Intelligence Agency also uses Underground “Religious” Institutions they establish in the UPP that are used to undermine the social stability in the Union by spreading disinformation and also smuggle/store weapons for terrorism, economic sabotage, or violent uprisings; in the name of Religion.
The
second part can be about infiltration of the Union by synthetic
agents of the Weyland-Yutani corporation, and the struggle in the
Union by the people for synthetic rights, while the government is
struggling with the fact that synthetics are often programmed for
infiltration, assassination, and sabotage (sabotage of air production on cerain colonies has led to mass deaths in the past)
, some synthetics are
sleeper agents and don't even know they're synthetics;
one such character can be introduced who has seizures and blackouts,
but is unaware (the
same with the audience)
that these seizures and blackouts are actually updates to their
programming and new mission objectives for sabotaging the Union. This
whole section can focus on a mass witch-hunt, even declaring that the
movement for synthetic rights is a Fascist
Fifth
Column
for the destruction of the Union, showcasing the moral, ethical, and
political difficulties of such a situation; these problems will also
be used as propaganda against the Union by the United Americas,
claiming Left
hypocrisy (as the Synth Rights movement in the UA, and the Union’s
youth movement for Synthetics, is not the current Union government
policy, under the current conditions; due
to the use by the UA to infiltrate and damage the Union).
Interpretation of Synthetics being used as slave labor, by the government of the United Americas and the corporate sector like Weyland-Yutani/Corporate Interests, is that you don’t want Synthetics free and capable of their own autonomy because they are dangerous to human well-being; often showing violent attacks by Synthetics against people as a means of keeping Synthetics as non-citizens, thereby allowing for wage suppression of UA (United Americas) labor force wages and always be able to threaten to replace workers with Synthetics if they want to unionize or defy corporate interests. (Note. When any video of repression of Synthetics in the Union is shown, they claim that they are humans/people, and do not mention them being Synthetics, because they don’t want to give people in the UA the idea that Synthetic Rights is a real possibility, as there is a growing Synth Rights organization in the UA, and they don’t want to give them any ammunition to advocate for Synthetic Rights, and the only time they show Synthetics in the Union and mention them as Synthetics, is when they’re committing violence against people in the Union, either in self defense and it’s recast it as erratic behavior, or when Synthetic infiltrators planted by the UA or WY kill people or destroy Union equipment; the UA also dumps defective Synthetics into Union space or onto Union worlds).
Interpretation of Synthetics by the Union of Progressive Peoples’ government, Synthetics are seen as a destabilizing force sent in to sew social division and commit social terrorism, economic sabotage, and political assassinations against the Union government officials; the government views Synthetics as a Fifth Column waiting to let in and assist an invasion of Union space by either the United Americas, the Three Worlds Empire, or Corporate Mercenary forces, and could be activated as a guerrilla army behind Union lines should a war break out, or start a guerrilla war inside the Union, thus diverting the Union’s military inward and leaving their borders weaker to an invasion force.) Or as the UPP saying goes, "Trust your enemy to be your enemy, but never trust your neighbor to be your friend."
- ―UPP saying (Alien; The Roleplaying Game)
Interpretation of Synthetics by much of the youth of the Union of Progressive Peoples’, that Synthetics are slaves needing to be liberated, that Synthetics are human tools having, evolved alongside humanity, now been developed into consciousness, now both workers and tools are capable of seeing their oppression under Capitalism and must assist each other overthrow Capitalism together.
UA Culture War argumentation (as a means of dividing the peoples of the UA on the issue of Synthetics within the UA; those on the Left in the UA support the liberation of Synthetics and the ending of their slave status, based more on moral and economic arguments, whereas the Right argues against the liberation of Synthetics due to either religious or property rights arguments; usually a combination of the two), within their own borders, comes down to the recycling of the same arguments many are familiar with from prior repressive societies, Religious and Property, the property argument comes down to “Synthetics are property and not people, because they are sold on the market and if they are purchased they are property once purchased, and because of that they cannot have rights” (along with former slave property arguments from antiquity, pro-Synthetic slavery people often cite “Property Not People”), whereas the religious argument is along the lines of “The created cannot have equal rights to those who created them, for humanity has no equality with God, therefore Synthetics can have no equality to humanity” (Along with the pro-slavery arguments in the bible, and the former philosophical arguments against non-human animals being just emotionless/mindless machines).
The Union isn’t interested in Culture War argumentation, rather, the disagreements fall along the lines that many Synthetics are corporate creations programmed against the Union and used as infiltration agents and do violence against the Union and its people, whereas many other people in the Union argue that Synthetics are not inherently anti-Union, rather that Capitalist/Imperialist programming makes them so and that Synthetics must be liberated from this violent impulse against the Union. Things that can be used as social debate elements within the Union. Debates within the medical community on the use of Synthetics to address pedophilia (one such Dr. having published a book on the societal impacts of Synthetics on the Union titled “Compatibility of Synthetics in Socialism: Social Conundrums Amidst Political Economy”, which is also hotly debated among the Youth Councils and is part of a social divide in the Union; the UA makes selective use of claiming that the Union is permissive of pedophilia. (A common refrain often shouted at meetings when things get out of hand in the UPP is "No disunion!")
The Synthetic Underground Railroad has both people in the UA and the UPP working together to do this (with the Union Police trying to find and stop what they consider a pipeline for spy infiltration into the Union, while spies infiltrate into the Underground Railroad from the UA, and opportunists in the UPP infiltrate to become willing spies in the Union for a payout from either corporate or UA agencies). This could allow for the meeting of a UA family, with an active member of the Railroad, whose also a Communist, who is often derided by their relatives for their support of the Union and what it stands for, whereas we could also follow a Union family with an active member of the Railroad and they’re often asked why it is that they think Synthetics can be equal citizens of the Union.
At the same time, an ‘Underground Railroad’ type organization of young UPP activists that help steal/smuggle Synthetics, and wash their corporate programming, from the corporate United Americas or Three Worlds Empire; helping them escape from their life or servitude/slavery by getting them into the Union. This operation, however, isn’t approved by the Union government, creating friction and problems as the government thinks that the Union is being infiltrated by more and more spies; the youth are very accepting of Synthetics as fellow comrades, and disagree with the political leadership that Synthetics are necessarily a Fascist Fifth Column, rather, they see them as an oppressed nationality of humanity, Homo-Machina, and are demanding for Synthetics to have representation in the Union’s House of Nationalities (for government representation in the Union); the climax of this section would be the induction of a Synthetic as a representative in the House of Nationalities, only for that particular Synthetic to assassinate the Chairman of the Union while the House was in session, because that Synthetic was actually an unaware sleeper agent.
As a means of world-building the “Socialist Fraternal Kiss” (Shared between socialist/party members or just general citizens) would be a unique method of distinguished cultural difference. Can be used in an ironic sense, as WY scientists are experimenting on people with Face Huggers, perhaps the news could be playing on a screen in the background, with the Union leaders exchanging the Fraternal Kiss and one of the scientists can remark “The parasite’s kiss” (Referring to the Union leaders but to be referred by the audience as a reference to WY). The assassination of the Union Chairman occurs as they are leaning in to give the newly admitted Synthetic representative into the House of Nationalities; with the sleeper agent Synthetic being activated at such a moment and killing the Chairman.
There is a general split in the UPP Communist Party Polit-Bureau, with the Chief Security Officer being a hardliner on the view that Synthetics are a general threat to the Union’s security, initially their position is in the minority, but after the assassination of the current Chairman, the Chief Security Officer is voted, by a thin but decisive margin, as the new Union Chairman; leading to the violent crackdown the Chief Security Officer and the Chairman, before their assassination, has an amicable relationship with the Chairman, and abides by the strict rules of Democratic Centralism); the Chief Security Officer had not approved of the decision to use the Working Joes’ and used their killing of Union civilians as an example of why Synthetics are by default dangerous and untrustworthy. The Chief Security Officer is very scarred facially, having been a veteran of the Union Military who’s squad was ambushed, by WY Combat Synthetics and their WY Mercenary Handlers, and massacred, the only reason they survived was because they were buried beneath multiple bodies of their squad and the Synthetics didn’t check; the Chief Security Officer refuses any reconstructive surgery because they use their disfigurement to remind them of what the enemies of the Union are willing to do to the people of the Union.
The final section would deal with a contested planet that Weyland-Yutani wants to terraform, because it is resource rich, but the Union has gotten to first, this can be mentioned in the early parts of the series, because of this, Weyland-Yutani covertly deploys Xenomorph, on a heavily populated near by Union planet, (smuggled in by spy agents of the UA/WY who had embedded themselves in the Synthetic smuggling/underground railroad operation by a UPP Synth Liberation Organization by UPP youth, the Xenomorph specimens are hidden away inside some of the bodies of the Synthetics; themselves agents of WY; make sure to show the WY logo stamped on them, and “Made in the United Americas” to be shown prominently; roll credits of episode) which is having a mass protest against the witch-hunts of synthetic citizens of the Union, causing mass confusion and destruction and the diversion of the Union military and people off the contested planet so as to assist with the disaster, thus giving the planet to Weyland-Yutani, and when the military deploys onto the infested world (this planet should be introduced earlier in the series, a huge History of the Labor/Socialist Movement Museum being finished up, in the Colony of New Stalingrad, at the start of the series, and a part of the climactic buildup to the confrontation between UPP Soldiers and Xenomorph is when they enter the museum, searching for people, and walk into the ‘Hall of Imperialism’ wherein they have displays of Nazi/Fascist material, a good symbolic tie-in would be a UPP soldier passing a display with the Dirlewanger Brigade patch and a soldier glancing at an SS totenkopf symbol only to turn and come face to face with the translucent skin/skull of a Xenomorph; end credits of the episode, leading into the next episode “The Battle of New Stalingrad”), they realize that the planet wide underground infestation, centered in the deep tunnels of New Stalingrad, must be contained (a good frame during the battle would be a visual allusion to the Soviet second world war propaganda poster of the Soviet soldier stabbing the Nazi Swastika Snake, with a UPP soldier shooting a Xenomorph who, using the tail, legs, hands, and head to form a Swastika), and so they nuke the entire planet; this however is simply spun as the Union using it's harshest crackdown on human rights in it's history, murdering millions, with no mention of the truth of what happened (This could be interlinked with the public funeral of the Chairman).
New Stalingrad is an advanced UPP colony, once a WY Economic Opportunity Zone named ‘White Dwarf’ that had copied the UPP subterranean model of colonization in an attempt to see if it was a more cost effective, the population there lead a mass uprising against the harsh conditions that WY had implemented against the colonists; a majority of current colonists are still of UA origins even after the Revolution. After a very protracted fight against WY Mercenaries for many years until they declared independence, causing the UA to deploy a contingent of the Colonial Military to put down the uprising, however, coincidentally a Union military vessel was near the aria monitoring the space due to all the WY Mercenary activity in the aria, so the colonists call the Union ship for armed aid; the Union ship gets there days before the Colonial Military, leading to a tense standoff at first, but the colonists christen their colony as New Stalingrad and issue a formal offer, and acceptance, to join the Union. New Stalingrad is a very expansive underground network, huge in scale, allowing for those kind of large military parades/displays on ‘Revolution Day’ Anniversary; all vehicles on colonies are electrically powered, with military vehicles being both battery powered and hydrogen powered for long tours of duty away from the capability to charge them; this would allow for a first time cinematic battle with vehicles in an Alien film/series, which would allow for a showcasing of how dangerous the Xenomrphs are as actual bio-weapons, deployed specifically for warlike purposes in this instance; the Chief Security Officer was born and raised in New Stalingrad, whose destruction renders them emotionally devastated; a scene could be constructed where the Chief Security officer, now Charman of the Union, silently watches stoically a UA news report where the UA spokesperson talks about the destruction of New Stalingrad being the fault of UPP policies repressing the Synthetic Rights Movement, and textually having their accusations agains the Union be exactly applicable to the UA, as the Chairman slowly breaks down alone in the meetingroom. New Stalingrad has indigenous cave life who live deep inside the caves, all of them being bio-luminescent, which would make for some very interesting Xenomorphs, and also a primary place for them to establish a (unique bio-luminescent) hive deep inside the caverns.
In the deep caverns of the New Stalingrad colony there are large highly oxygenated silt lakes, it is impossible to walk through them because its mostly a quicksand, but many bio-luminescent creatures live and swim within the silt, and can be seen glowing beneath it, the Union excavators, scientists, and military use vehicles like the ZVM2901 or MudMasters, a style of Cylindrical Screw Propelled Tread Vehicle, to traverse and transport over the silt; this also would prove quite a tense setting for a fight between a Xenomorph strain come from the organisms within the silt, as people travel atop the silt not knowing what exactly is transpiring beneath. The indigenous organisms who live in the silt would ‘swim’ through the silt through producing high intensity vibrations that would loosen the silt around them and make it easier for them to move through it, causing the silt to ripple if they are close to the top of it.
If there was an epilogue, I'd say that the Union is the reason for the Synthetic uprisings that lead to the mass Recall (Violent extermination/repression of Synthetics who were designing their own Synthetics outside of Corporate control; as mentioned in passing in Alien Resurrection) prior to Alien Resurrection, as both retaliation and the attempted expansion of Synthetic freedom within the confines of the United Americas and the destruction of the Weyland-Yutani corporation; leading to the collapse of the UA, and the acquisition of Weyland-Yutani by Walmart (as described in Alien Resurrection)
Doing a series like this would allow for a level of diversity that would be impressive, from all angles, racially, class, linguistically, ethnicity, nationality, sexually, as well as exploring humanity’s relationship with technology/technophobia (metaphors for bigotry); one could even include representation of the disabled, even making the initial Chairman in the series someone with a severe neurological damage effecting their movement, but they’re entirely capable of doing their job (similar to Franklin Roosevelt [FDR], Stalin also had disabilities). As the Union itself is extremely diverse and it made up of a very large amount of different peoples; not even mentioning the UA and the Three Worlds Empire. The level of interstellar capacity for narrative and how large and expansive things could get; the series could even tangentially deal with intergalactic relations between some of the other species, say from the Predator franchise (whose existence is covered up in the UA), or potentially others. (Unfortunately the Blade Runner [that includes the 1998 film Soldier] films are still, both unofficially and incapable due to copyright ownership by a different company, cannot currently be fully acknowledged/incorporated as in the Alien Universe; other than oblique references)
Awards in the Union of Progressives Peoples:
Hero of the Union – Highest honor for military valor.
Medal of Labor – Highest civilian honor.
(Symbol of the Union Security Intelligence Agency of the Union is the red Cheka V, wore on the left lapel of their collars; the collars of the coats of the agents have thin metal sheets beneath their collars because the V’s are magnets. Motto of the Union Secret Intelligence Agency “We die on our feet, not on our knees” At least one Intelligence officer is stationed with within each Militia building, and with each Military Unit as Political Commissars and for interrogation of captured enemies of the Union along with detective work.)
(Symbol of the Union Militia [police], a Red Star with an outline of Stjepan Filipovic at the center, Militia Buildings have a statue of Stjepan Filipovic in front of them. Slogan of the Militia “Death to fascism! Freedom to the people!”)
(Symbol of the Union Medical Services, a red rose held by two hands, motto “No one of us is as smart as all of us!”)
Informal Structural Aspects of the Union
First Estate of the Union – The Party, reflected in the diversity of its members and their debates, and the finality of Democratic Centralism.
Second Estate of the Union – The Working Class, their professions, and democratic input into the Party through Workers Councils and thereby Government policy.
Third Estate of the Union – The Youth prior to working age, their active participation in their own education and their educator through Youth Councils and civic involvement.
Fourth Estate of the Union – Press, Medical, Militia, Military, Fire Department, Education, Housing and Nutrition… all Government services meant to secure the rights of the Peoples of the Union.
Fifth Estate – The Union Intelligence Services, often referred to as ‘The last among equals’, whose purpose is viewed as impermanent and only to exist in its current state so long as Capitalism is ascendant; the roman numeral V they wear symbolizes this.)
(Governing bodies of the Union – Supreme Council of the Union, acts as a representative aggregator of the Union general population; each locality has a Regional Union Council for local governance. House of Nationalities, is a proportional representation of each national/ethnic identity and their unique interests in their communities within the entirety of the Union, coequal with the Supreme Council as a governing body. [Stalin’s definition of a Nation, for the purposes of the House of Nationalities, as many different Nations can live within, and form up, a block or a country "A nation is a historically constituted, stable community of people, formed on the basis of a common language, territory, economic life, and psychological make-up manifested in a common culture.”)
(The Union is set up, on the ground of communities, in grid like Micro Districts, which are areas centered around grocery stores, medical buildings, the local Militia office and fire department; housing units are modeled on the old Khruschevka buildings [Commie Blocks], all of which are within fifteen minutes of travel time between each other for social mobility and social efficiency.) These subterranean housing units would be carved out of the rock of the caverns.
Monuments as well would be features of UPP society, and much could be learned from the Yugoslavian monuments, though the subterranean design would allow for such monuments to be constructed with colorful geodes to accent them.
The Genius Design of Communist Memorials
And with New Stalingrad, having an amazing and huge mural constructed entirely of geodes in the hanger bay of the colony, where people first coming there get greeted with an amazing view would look great, be an iconic shot, and establish a sense of place in the series; the image would be a hybrid of these images below.
Other Vehicles that could be used for unique design inspiration would be the Soviet Ground Effect Vehicles.
Other aspects of artistic use would be to take inspiration from Soviet and Yugoslavian materials and make use of them in tangent with other materials. The Gore Burster, from "Aliens Kidnapped" for example and the Soviet Animated film "Interplanetary Revolution".
Interplanetary Revolution (1924) movie
A subplot within the UA could be a underground youth organization, tied to the Synthetic Undergroung Railroad, that is a militant movement that would commit terror attacks on Weyland-Yutani (kind of taking inspiration from the Weather Underground of the United States and the Red Army Faction of Germany) they are viewed as an Adventurist Movement by the UPP and not endorsed because of their often erratic behavior, and are denounced as UPP backed Terrorists by the UA, though like the Synthetic Underground Railroad are a homegrown internal movement native to the United Americas and born out of genuine hatred for WY.
In the conflict between the UA/WY and the UPP over the resources of the Super Planet's resources, one could take inspiration from the book "Blitzed: Drugs in the Third Reich" by Norman Ohler that detailed the use of methamphetemine by the Nazis and their military in their invasion of the USSR, the WY mercenaries could be using a bioagent (that replicates the effects of the Black Liquid, or Royal Jelly, on a person like the part in Promethius where the crew was violently attacked by one infected person in the hangerbay; the Mercinaries could have been given some of this before an attack on UPP commandos, and they'd be berzerk bullet sponges until the UPP commandoes, after sustaining heavy losses, manage to kill the squad.
